Connecticut Corsair dedicates itself to the restoration to flight of Connecticut's State Aircraft, the F4U-4 Corsair; to honor Connecticut's aerospace history, while promoting and utilizing its current and future aerospace technology and capabilities; and to educate future generations about the Corsair and its contributions on both the local and world stages, as well as to inspire students in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and manufacturing, through the restoration process.
Within the pages of this website should be the information you seek. We have broken our site into three major section, each with its own sub-categories. These sections are:
"Our Organization" - "The Project" - "Reference"
"Our Organization" is a compilation of information pertaining to who we are; what our mission and goals are, how to contact us, and information on our sponsors. Furthermore, we've included in this section a Frequently Asked Questions area, as well as a links page to external information.
The section pertaining to "The Project" is the meat of our site. We have broken this section down into five categories. These are: 'The Airplane', 'The Engine', 'Our Propeller', 'The Crew', and 'The Hangar'. Our gallery of photos is located here, as well.
Information on the actual restoration (past, present, and future) is found in the Airplane category. One will also find, here, the history and technical data of our specific F4U-4 corsair (Bureau Number #97330).
The Engine category pertains to our restored Pratt & Whitney Aircraft R-2800-18W radial engine. We have documented the restoration process, from acquisition to final assembly, with photos and descrptions. Here, also, one will find technical information on this specific engine.
Within the Crew category, one will find a roster of those individuals who make up the Connecticut Corsair family. Our Hangar is where we call home, and we have posted a bit of information on it for our visitors.
This website also contains a Reference section, designed to be a one-stop repository of encyclopedic information pertaining to Corsairs, and relevant information on the state of Connecticut.
